Flint Symphony Orchestra Names New Concertmaster

The Flint Symphony Orchestra announced today that Judy Lin Wu has been appointed as the new concertmaster for the 2015-16 season. Wu will be the 16th concertmaster in the Orchestra’s 99-year history; she previously served as a guest concertmaster for the FSO during the 2014-15 season.

Prior to joining the FSO, Wu held the position of first violinist with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and has also served as the associate concertmaster for the Hong Kong Philharmonic. A respected soloist, Wu has performed with the Houston Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic and Wichita State University Orchestra, among many others. Additionally, Wu has performed in numerous solo and chamber music recitals throughout the United States and Asia.

Wu pursued a career in musical excellence early, entering the Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division at age 11 after winning the National Youth Violin Competition in Taiwan. She earned her undergraduate degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and returned to the Juilliard School to pursue her graduate studies. Now, as an instructor, Wu has prepared students to gain admission to prestigious conservatories included the Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. Wu is also active in a variety of community outreach programs that seek to provide music education to students in inner city schools.

The Flint Symphony Orchestra will open its 2015-16 season on October 3, 2015 at The Whiting with featured guest artist Alexandre Moutouzkine. Season ticket packages and single seat tickets are on sale now at or call Cathy Prevett, audience services manager, at 810-238-1350, ext. 122.
