Summer Program Kicks off at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint

Hey Kids!!No need to be bored this summer!! Come on down to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint and check out all the fun things they have to offer youth 7 to 17 years old for only a $10 per year fee!

Summer Program started June 15 and runs for 10 weeks until August 21 from noon to 5:00 Monday through Friday.  The Club is a fun, safe place in a positive environment for youth to engage in great and meaningful programs during the summer.  Kids have an opportunity to participate in summer outside activities, get involved with healthy lifestyles by growing produce in the on-ground hoop house, art programs, photography, music programs, basketball, dodge ball, flag football, art projects, and much, much more!  The Club provides a free summer food program for youth in the community up to age 17.  Lunch and a snack are served during the summer program.  There are also 18 different fields trips at a cost of $5 each that kids can sign up to join such as canoeing, bowling, swimming, roller skating, hiking and more!

For older teens who are college bound, college and university visits will take place during the summer program.  Visits planned for this year include Wayne State University, Ferris State University, Hillsdale College, Albion College and University of Detroit Mercy.  This year’s Club college visits will also extend into Ohio to include University of Toledo and Bowling Green University.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint is a positive and safe place for all children, with special attention for those from challenged circumstances, to attend after school and during the summer. It costs only $10 per year for a child to become a member (assistance available), while the actual cost of providing service is about $500 per child. The difference is made up through grants, foundations, individual donors and support from corporate partners. The Boys & Girls Club provides programming to 2,400 local youngsters in five core areas: Sports, Fitness & Recreation, the Arts, Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, and Health & Life Skills.
