MCC Concert Band to Feature Modern and Classical Music
The Mott Community College (MCC) Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Mary Procopio, will present their Winter Concert Monday, February 23, 2015, at 7 p.m. in the Mott Memorial Building Auditorium on the main campus at 1401 E. Court Street in Flint.
Guest soloist will be Dr. Townes Osborn Miller, associate professor of Music, performing the Hungarian Pastorale Fantasy by Doppler. Other pieces to be performed include Cape Breton Postcard, a Gaelic inspired work by Michigan composer Catherine McMichael, Olympus by Barry Kopetz, representing the "splendor and grandeur" from the top of Mount Olympus,
Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein/transcribed by Clare Grundman, the First Suite in E-Flat for Military Band, Op. 28a by Gustav Holst and Yankee Doodle by Morton Gould.
This event is free and open to the public.
